Don’t put all your eggs in the same basket

An email we received this week (with 2 weeks notice) was a good reminder for any affiliates who are looking to put all their eggs in one basket, and think all companies out there will always honor their word and uphold fairness:

Dear Valued Partner,

Thank you for partnering with Wrike.

We will be terminating the affiliate program and all existing partnerships that existed under that program. Consequently, this email serves as our formal notification of the termination of the Affiliate Program you were a part of, effective July 15, 2021. Per the terms of the Agreement, you are kindly reminded to cease any affiliate-related activities and are advised that you are no longer eligible for future commissions on previously referred customers. Final payment, if any, will be issued for outstanding commissions earned up until the date of this notice.

We want to thank you for your participation and support. Should entering into a new and formal partnership with Wrike interest you, please do not hesitate to contact us at affiliates@team.wrike.com.

For some affiliates, they go all-in on promoting Asana or Pipedrive or OnePageCRM or other programs thinking that the program will never close down. For some affiliates, they may be earning 5 or 6-figure annual incomes from a program with the big risk of it closing one day. Our advice would be to diversify your affiliate programs and ensure that you haven’t quit your job and staked your financial future on an affiliate program always being open. Diversify your programs and consider adding consulting services or course sales to ensure the ride is less risky.
